As a structural and construction site engineer for more than 13 years, I have observed that, in contrast to the developed world where I have also worked and practiced after an MSc in Construction Management programme in England, the Nigerian construction industry faces a number of barriers.

These include building collapse, substandard construction, project delays, noncompliance with contract agreements, dishonest procurement, contractors absconding with projects fund, and family members fabricating information about a project’s progress to their loved ones abroad when it is still unfinished or undone.

Another issue that has been noted is the exploitation of clients during projects who simply seek good quality. And when they negotiate correctly at appropriate market price, the project delivery comes in lesser quality which clients are unable to differentiate.

Thus, in an effort to provide integrity and ensure quality assurance in construction projects, Biumats Resources Limited was established in 2016 to serve the Nigerian populace.
